Reviews of Motley Fool: Stock Advisor at Investimonials

The investment service that helps any level of investor beat the market, no matter how much time or money they have. Inside, Motley Fool co-founders David and Tom Gardner hand you great stocks and the winning investment philosophy.
Sort of inaccurate advertisement
Motley fool should inform investors the monthly picks of stocks may carry significant risk of losing 50% to 80% of values from the time of buying the stocks over one year or even within a few months. Although there are some good picks, there are also very bad picks mixed in between, often to a significant proportion. Sometimes a best buy in Motley fool is a strong sell, extremely bearish in other stock evaluation firms. Investors end up losing more than 50% of values from the time of buying in very short time. I wish Motley fool may tell investors about possibly losing significant values of investments from their picks. I would rather get opinions from several investment firms, instead of just one from Fool.

Worst stock advisor
I got promotion from Motley Fool for $49 a year at the beginning of 2014. I was so stupid to even subscribe it. In 2014, I lost $15000 from the worse recommendations from DDD around $60, WPRT, TCS around $27, etc, by following Motley Fool. I noticed they also recommended to buy AMZN around $400, buy CLB around $160, etc. Every month, they list 10 stocks. But have they really done thorough stock analysis, to decide if the stock is overvalued and on the serious decline? They may spend more time selling their products for membership fees than doing some real serious research on the recommended stock.

Good value for the long term investor
As a member since 2007 I can honestly say that these guys will help you make money. In fact I made a trading decision myself and only made a 60-70% return on NFLX instead of a 300% return as they advised to hold the stock and still do. My overall return over these 6-7 years is 33.5% with my current actively held stocks returning 72.7%. Are these good returns? You be the judge. If you are looking for someone to help you move in and out of the market, try one of their other products. Their marketing is pretty heavy handed but as long as my returns are this good I'll overlook it. What's the alternative to someone running a business with three kids? They tell me where I can put my money and I don't have to be an active manager of my portfolio. For me it's worth it.

Solid Track Record, Good Value
I subscribed to Motley Fool Stock Advisor a few years back and found it to be a good experience. I believe they averaged two stock picks per month or so, all of which turned out to be good performers for me at the time. One of the things I liked about their site is they prominantly display the performance of their recommendations. Their reports are concise and well written.
You pay for hundreds of adds and nothing else.
I bought a 2 year subscription for what I thought would be some well thought advise a several stocks month. What I got was hundreds of promotions telling me of the great investment ideas these two could give me for another several hundred dollars. I feel like a total fool, but not the like the guys who are teased into the next step. Totally and completely useless..
